Aladin is a free and open source astronomy analyzer app and mapping tool developed by Pierre Fernique for Windows, it's comprehensive, reliable and advanced.

The download has been tested by an editor here on a PC with some screenshots included to illustrate the user interface.

Aladin is an interactive sky atlas allowing the user to visualize digitized astronomical images or full surveys, superimpose entries from astronomical catalogues or databases, and interactively access related data and information from the Simbad database, the VizieR service and other archives for all known astronomical objects in the field.

It is capable of addressing challenges such as locating data of interest, accessing and exploring distributed datasets, visualizing multi-wavelength data.

Compatibility and License

Aladin is a free application released under the GPLv3 license on Windows from mapping. With software released under the open source GPLv3 license, anybody can download, install, run and distribute the software with little in terms of restrictions. The latest version we have is 12.060 and is available to download here.

What version of Windows can Aladin run on?

Aladin can be used on a computer running Windows 11 or Windows 10. Previous versions of the OS shouldn't be a problem with Windows 8 and Windows 7 having been tested. It comes in both 32-bit and 64-bit downloads.
